The authorities of Odessa region have allocated a huge sum for restoration of the Akkerman fortress

The allocated funds are planning to conduct archaeological exploration, to restore the castle and to build infrastructure for tourists.

Odessa regional Council will send more than 336 million hryvnia for the restoration of Akkerman fortress. Medieval fortification, located in the city of Belgorod-Dniester and, with an area of 20 hectares, is one of the largest monuments of archeology and architecture in Ukraine.

The specified amount is used for the restoration of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky fortress and development of city infrastructure. Funds will be provided from the regional and district budgets and from other sources permitted by law. At the same time, the restoration project plan to implement during the years 2018-2022.
